Sons of the Divide - Professional Nu metal Rock band, from Virginia Beach, VA

We are a five-member Nu-Metal band embarking on an exciting new chapter with the release of our latest album, Sinners/Saints: Rage and Grace, mastered by a Grammy Award-winning engineer. The album is available worldwide on all major platforms. The band consists of JP Hill (lead singer/songwriter), J. Tano (bass/guitar), Ryno (drums/percussion), Matt Z (lead guitar), and Sam Willochell (rhythm guitar), with TJ Bell from Eyes of Division Records as our Executive Producer. Alongside the album, we have a live EP recorded in Cleveland, Ohio, coming soon. JP Hill also leads a solo nu-metal acoustic project under our label called JP Hill – Bus Stop Prophet, with a new album coming in October 2024. The band is also working on an acoustic album set to be released in 2025. In addition to our music, we host a bi-weekly podcast, Sons of the Divide Podcast, hosted by TJ Bell, where we interview artists and explore the music industry. We are a close-knit group, bonded like family, and are eager to share our passion and art with the world.

Team

  • JP Hill

    Singer/Songwriter/Guitar

JP Hill, is lead singer songwriter for Sons of the Divide. Also founded the band's 'Superglide' and 'The Mercenaries' with 4 previous albums, and a Solo Acoustic Project, called- JP Hill- Bus Stop Prophet

  • J. Tano

    Bass/Guiar

J was largely a self taught guitarist until attending high school and college. He began playing guitar at the age of 8 after finding a beat up acoustic guitar in a landfill. Over the years, J was part of several punk and rock bands in the south east region of the United States, primarily with the punk band The Cobalt Bombs, as a guitarist and vocalist. In 2010, J joined the Mercenaries with his brother in law JP Hill, and released two EPs under that band functioning primarily as a bassist and filling in for guitar. During this time J joined, The Desparate Measures, a rock band from London, England, occasionally traveling there to play shows. During this time, J also ran a public music program for local high school kids, teaching music, and professional performance. After the Mercenaries disbanded, JP and J continued writing music and formed their current group Sons of the Divide.

    • Ryan Evans

      Drums/Percussion

Hailing originally from California, Ryno started playing drums at age 16, immediately trying (not always successfully) to keep up with the likes of NOFX and Operation Ivy, while admiring the swingin’ grooves of John Bonham. His love of rock (and particularly rock that questions the status quo) stems from his intense energy, his seizing of every moment as if it was his last, and deep commitment to truth and purpose in all he does. As a world traveler, he also enjoys music and rhythms from around the globe, having dabbled also in Afro-Cuban percussion, gospel/soul, and reggae, also having previously played in bands in the South Pacific and Southeast Asia.

      • Matt Zupetic

        Lead Guitar

Matt’s guitar story began at the age of 5 where he took classical lessons at a Pittsburgh are shop Melody Music and stuck with it for a few years. He got reacquainted with the guitar in high school and played in a few hair metal style cover bands but wanted more … original music. The job market pushed him out of Pittsburgh and out into the international world where he once again played in cover bands including one in Southern Spain. In 2002 he met JP Hill and they bonded over music and actually built a guitar for him in 2012. Fast forward to 2017 Matt was back in Pittsburgh and met Sam over trading Guitars and love of metal and instantly bonded. In 2021 JP offered idea of forming an original band which became Sons Of The Divide.”

        • Sam Willochell

          Rhythm Guitar

I started playing guitar around 7 years old after watching a vhs tape of ac/dc’s let there be rock. Fast forwards years later to my first band Boomstick which was an 80-90s thrash metal band. After i joined a three piece prog 90s hard rock band, then shortly after that I played in an acoustic duo.
